GEO 1-Click Audit Chrome Extension

1. Introduction

Thank you for using GEO 1-Click Audit. This extension is designed to help you understand your website's visibility in AI-generated search results (Generative Engine Optimization). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

We value your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data Collection & Usage

2.1 No Personal Data Collection

2.2 Technical Data We Analyze

When you click "Scan Now," the extension analyzes the active tab only to extract:

• Page metadata: Title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure (H1-H6)
• Structured data: Schema.org markup, JSON-LD, and microdata formats
• llm.txt file presence: Checks if your site has an AI-ready configuration file
• Content structure: Use of lists, tables, and semantic HTML elements

This analysis happens locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) when available.

2.3 Backend Communication

To calculate your AI Visibility Score, the extension sends anonymized site metadata to our secure servers. This includes:

• The URL of the page you are auditing
• Brand name extracted from the page
• Industry category (inferred from content)

Important: This data is not stored permanently and is not linked to any individual user. It is used only to query AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) and calculate visibility rankings. Results are returned to your browser and then discarded from our servers.

3. Permissions Justification

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions, and here's why we need them:

3.1 activeTab

Purpose: Allows the extension to read the HTML structure of the current tab only when you click "Scan Now". We never access tabs you are not actively auditing.

3.2 storage

Purpose: Stores your audit history locally on your device. This data never leaves your computer and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's extension data.

3.3 scripting

Purpose: Enables the extension to inject content scripts that analyze the technical structure of the webpage (headings, metadata, structured data). This happens only during an active scan.

3.4 sidePanel

Purpose: Displays the audit results in Chrome's side panel interface. No data is transmitted through this permission.

4. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or transfer your data to any third parties.

The only external communication is with AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) to calculate visibility scores, and this data is:

• Anonymized (no user identifiers)
• Sent over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Not stored by our backend servers

5. Data Retention

Local Storage: Audit results are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API. You can clear this data at any time by:

• Uninstalling the extension
• Using Chrome's "Clear browsing data" feature and selecting "Site settings"

Server-Side: We do not retain any user data on our servers. All queries are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after results are returned.

• Delete your data: Uninstall the extension to remove all local data
• Opt-out: Simply do not click "Scan Now" and the extension will not collect any data

This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
